On Wednesday, FFU president Grigoriy Surkis had a meeting with Germany’s Economic Delegate to Ukraine Karin Rau. The key issue of discussion had to do with UEFA EURO 2012 preparation. Interlocutors unanimously stated that Ukraine’s win in the bid to host European competition had become a landmark stimulus for our country in terms of revealing and implementing socio-political and economic potential for the next five-year term.
German support
Karin Rau focused on versatile support from German government directed on preparation to prestigious football competition. Thus, she offered to organize in Ukraine a special seminar on the EURO 2012 security. Both sides agreed to hold it in late October 2008. The seminar will feature DFB Chief Security Officer Helmut Spahn, Berlin and Munich senators. They are ready to provide Ukrainian colleagues with precious experience that enabled Germany to host World Cup on top level.

The initiative of the Delegate of German economics in Ukraine was also taken with thankfulness by home professionals who have a rich practical experience of law enforcing activity. The director of the EURO 2012 security and law and order Centre Vasyl Fatkhutdinov mentioned a special importance and high perspective of such cooperation.

Among a top priority points is to work out the scheme of ruling and coordination departments’ actions within the frames of preparing and realization of the measures as to providing with security and law enforcing; determination of ways of financing of such measures; distribution of duties among all sides (government, UEFA and national Association); monitoring of the main problems and working out recommendations as to their solving.
