«Somebody would better have a rest during his vacation, but I decided to share my joy with Ukrainian fans», − the winner of UEFA Cup Anatoliy Tymoschuk told during his Ukrainian tour. We remind that on Thursday, June 5, Ukraine national team player and the captain of Russia Zenit presented the trophy in Kyiv.

Prominent person, football star
«It is very pleasant to honor here in the House of Football a prominent person, a football star of Ukraine and Russia − Anatoliy Tymoschuk, − Football Federation of Ukraine president Grigoriy Surkis greeted Anatoliy at press-conference. − We thank him for the fact that all people who are interested have an opportunity to see European trophy with their own eyes. It is nice that he is not a great player, but also a real patriot». Ukraine Minister for family, youth and sport affairs Yuriy Pavlenko agreed with Grigoriy Surkis and joined to his congratulations.

Merited medal

«At Soviet times Ukraine celebrated victories of our teams in European competitions more than once, − Grigoriy Surkis proceeded. − Unfortunately, at times of our independence we witnessed only four Ukrainians holding the trophies − they are Andriy Shevchenko, Bohdan Shershun and Tymoschuk with Gorshkov. Nonetheless, we hope our trophies are up for grab very soon. We also believe that Anatoliy together with Ukraine national team will present us another significant success − the berth in the World Cup 2010 final». By the way, praising Anatoliy’s contribution into promotion of Ukrainian football, Grigoriy Surkis handed him the most significant FFU award − medal «For merits».

Example for youth to follow
Answering journalists’ questions, Tymoschuk admitted he isn’t bothered with moving from city to city with UEFA Cup. «I’m doing this from my heart, so it’s not tiresome whatsoever, − Anatoliy revealed. − Perhaps, many boys, who dream of footballer’s career, will have a look at a true European Cup and start working harder. As they say, only 10 per cent of success are talent, the rest is hard work. At least, it was this way in my life».

Four cities
From Kyiv Anatoliy Tymoschuk will apparently leave for Saint Petersburg. We remind that before coming to the capital Ukraine halfback dropped in his home Lutsk and Donetsk with UEFA Cup. Earlier the other UEFA Cup holder Oleksandr Gorshkov introduced the trophy in Lugansk.
